Palmerston North MP Steve Maharey has congratulated Craig Perks on his win in today’s Players Championship tournament.

“Craig played with great skill and confidence in a field that brought together the world’s leading players. He won well, and he won displaying the modest self-assurance that great sportspeople bring to their craft.

“Millions of television viewers around the world watched Craig’s performance over the last four days, and as they did so they were reminded that Palmerston North, New Zealand is the place of his birth, and the place he calls home. We all shared his pride today as the New Zealand flag flew in the background as Craig accepted the winner’s trophy.

“I trust that, as a community we will get an early opportunity to congratulate him in person, and today we thank him for the honour that he has brought on the city, and the country,” Steve Maharey said.
