National's Finance Spokesman David Carter says he welcomes Don Brash's decision to stand for National at this year's election.

"Don Brash is one of the world's most respected central bankers and he will bring a wealth of skills and talent to our caucus.

"The fact that Dr Brash is prepared to give up his very successful career as Reserve Bank Governor shows his deep concern about the current management of the economy by the Labour/Alliance Government.

"I look forward to Don Brash's input in helping National regain the Treasury benches later this," David Carter concluded.
