SFO INVOLVEMENT DUBIOUS: PETERS

“The Serious Fraud Office’s Bradshaw is once again playing politics” New Zealand First leader Winston Peters said.

“His decision to inform Attorney General Margaret Wilson of the inquiry into the Fay Richwhite donations to National is another example of his poor judgement. He had to know that, in an election year especially, the dirty tricks brigade would soon spread the news. This is the man who could find no reason to prosecute any of the Winebox businesses and his appearances in front of the Law and Order Select Committee last year, when he accepted her promptings to answer questions, as indicative that he is afar too close to the Attorney General.

“While we have absolutely no sympathy for the National Party or for Fay Richwhite’s Michelle Boag we certainly abhor the bad judgement of Mr Bradshaw whose office requires him to be above political reproach and entirely independent. As for the issue itself, the National Party is protesting too much about party donations, an issue which will also rebound on the Labour Party,” Mr Peters said.
