Successful Fonterra Directors Have Big Job

National's Agriculture spokesman Gavan Herlihy has congratulated Greg Gent, Jim van der Poel and Earl Rattray on their successful election to Fonterra's board.
"With eight candidates vying for the three vacancies on the board, it was good to see such strong and robust competition for the Fonterra directorships. "
Mr Herlihy says it's pleasing to see that farmer apathy has not infected the dairy industry, as it unfortunately appears to have in many other primary sectors.
"Greg, Jim and Earl - as well as all the other Fonterra directors - have a big responsibility in ensuring that the company performs to its potential.
"This is important not only for the nation's dairy farmers, but also for the rest of the country because Fonterra is New Zealand's biggest company and export earner.
"I wish them and the dairy industry every success," Mr Herlihy concluded.
