Lee departure opens up race for Auckland Central

Sandra Lee stepping down from Parliament opens up an election race in Auckland Central, National MP Pansy Wong said today.

"Aucklanders deserve a strong representative rather than a weak link. Judith Tizard is interested only in particular sectors of the community, but she won't work hard to win her vote.

Pansy Wong, promoted up National's list at the weekend, has moved to Auckland from Christchurch to contest Auckland Central. She has operated an office in Auckland, working between the two cities, for the past five years.

"My move north shows the strong commitment I am making to representing cosmopolitan Auckland. I have worked particularly closely with the Asian, business and communities interested in multiculture for many years.

"I think Aucklanders deserve a strong representative and a strong competition and choice in this coming election," Pansy Wong said.
