Prebble Welcomes Epsom Decision

Wednesday 19 Jun 2002

ACT leader Richard Prebble has welcomed Rodney Hide's decision not to campaign for the constituency vote in Epsom.

"ACT has polling showing that Rodney could possibly win Epsom. But such an election race would be very bruising and ACT's real opponent is the Labour/Green de facto coalition.

"ACT's message is now very clear. Voters who want lower taxes, less red tape, zero tolerance for crime and one law for all, must vote ACT with their party vote.

"This election is like every other, between big-spending, high-tax parties like Labour and the Greens, and those parties that support freedom, choice and personal responsibility.

"Rodney's decision means he will be able to campaign on ACT's well-designed, prosperity-creating tax cut. ACT has received a favourable reaction to our tax policy, and with Rodney available to campaign nationwide, I expect our policies to be electorally very successful," Mr Prebble said.
