ACT Calls On Dunne To Stick With Principles
Friday 2
Aug 2002
It's astonishing how quickly Peter Dunne has
backed away from his party's policy to cut the size of
the Government's executive - now he senses an opportunity
to gain a Cabinet post, ACT acting leader Ken Shirley
says.
"United Future's website clearly states the
party's policy is to reduce the size of the executive to
18 and cut the number of ministerial portfolios. This is
a policy the ACT Party also supports, although we would
go further.
"Now, Mr Dunne is distancing himself from
this policy as he continues talks with Labour about
supporting its minority coalition government.
"I call
on Mr Dunne to stick to the principles he campaigned on,
rather than selling out at the first whiff of a Ministerial
office and an LTD," Mr Shirley said.
