Greens Pleased With Front Bench Allocation

The Green Party is pleased with the Speaker's decision to allocate front bench seats in proportion to party size, Co-leader Rod Donald said today.

The Speaker has allocated seven front bench seats to National, three to New Zealand First and two each to the Greens and ACT.

"We're obviously delighted to get two front bench seats rather than the single one originally offered," said Rod Donald. "We also think it fair that New Zealand First gets three front bench seats instead of the two they would have got if National had been given the nine they had claimed.

"It will make for an interesting three years to be sandwiched between New Zealand First and ACT - but we relish the challenge," said Rod Donald.
