Greens agree inquiries should proceed

The Green caucus agreed today that two select committee inquiries into the Crown Forestry Rentals Trust and the Waitangi Fisheries Commission should proceed.

Green Party Maori Affairs Spokesperson and member of the Maori Affairs Select Committee Metiria Turei today said there were serious issues that needed to be investigated in both inquiries and that, should it come to a vote, her vote would be for the inquiries to continue.

"As a rule the Greens believe that once inquiries are started they should be finished and we can see no reason why these two inquiries are any different," she said.
