Changes needed to protect community funding

Changes needed to protect community funding

Judith Collins - National Internal Affairs Spokesperson

National’s Internal Affairs spokesperson Judith Collins says that changes are needed to stop Lotto’s falling income affecting community groups.

“Slowing Lotto sales means less funding for groups like the Water Safety Council and Surf Lifesaving, and there is nothing in place to make up for this loss in funding.

“The fact that there are now 23,000 non-casino gaming machines competing for market share makes it even more difficult for Lotto. There needs to be more control and scrutiny over where the money goes from these machines.

“Local and national Government might need to look at what assistance they give these organisations,” said Ms Collins.
