Our Legislators Are Short-Changing Society

New Zealand First claims legislators are not listening to the everyday New Zealander.

Peter Brown MP recently did an informal survey and asked people what they thought about liberalisation of prostitution laws and the current cannabis laws.

Of those who responded, an overwhelming majority called for stronger laws on both issues.

“With this kind of response I question how the Green Party can call for liberalisation of the cannabis law and the Labour Party can put forward a bill for prostitution reform when it is obvious that a significant number of New Zealanders don’t want it.

Even further I might add, from responses many New Zealanders not only don’t want this liberalisation, they are downright alarmed by the anticipated future effects.

“Legislators should not be given carte blanche to change society. They must start listening to what New Zealanders want,” said Mr Brown.
