Agencies Acknowledge Corruption

New Zealand First law and order spokesperson Ron Mark is appalled at the nonchalant attitude of driving test authorities to corruption in the system.

“They admit they know it happens and they couldn’t care less,” said Mr Mark.

“The very authority charged with ensuring our roads are safe has admitted that it is possible to cheat your way to a learner licence and be in control of a car when you have no idea about the road rules. They have admitted the system is flawed.

“The Land Transport Safety Authority and the Automobile Association have told the media that little can be done to stop an immigrant bribing an interpreter. Meanwhile the Ministry of Transport says it doesn’t matter if you cheat because you have to do a driving practical test anyway.

“What is the point of law-abiding citizens bothering to sit the theory driving test if it is so unnecessary?

“How many accidents have been caused by immigrants who have no grasp of basic road rules?

“The response to my claims is disgraceful. Neither the Minister of Police nor the Minister of Tranport could possibly expect the public to have any confidence in the driving test process,” said Mr Mark.
