Decision to avoid Kenya right one for Black Cap safety- Anderton

Progressive leader and cricket fan Jim Anderton says that he thinks the New Zealand Cricket decision to avoid Nairobi is the correct one given the circumstances.

“The decision is both courageous and the right thing to do given the possibility of terrorist violence which could involve New Zealand players.

“Not only the players would be at risk but also the crowds that may have watched the game, and those running the stadium and the games.

“It is a sad day when these types of hard decisions must be made but I support the New Zealand Cricket Authorities, CEO Martin Snedden, and the Black Caps right to choose safe playing conditions.

“We do not expect New Zealand Embassy staff to work under the threat of violence and our sportspeople should benefit from the same wisdom,” said Jim Anderton.
