NZ First MPs Free To Vote On Smoke-Free Bills

New Zealand First Members Free To Vote On Smoke-Free Legislation

“Voting on Smoke-free legislation, like other Bills relating to restrictions or limitations on individuals (legal) behaviour or rights, is a matter of conscience for New Zealand First,” said New Zealand First leader Rt Hon Winston Peters.

“Members of the New Zealand First caucus are free to exercise their own judgement as to what restrictions should be placed on legal activities.

“Their decisions will reflect the weighting each of them give the various issues relating to health, conditions of employment, freedom and individual rights.

“This is clearly a conscience matter and New Zealand First will be treating it as such,” said Mr Peters.
