Welfare Reform One Step Closer

ACT New Zealand Social Welfare Spokesman Dr Muriel Newman today welcomed the release of the National Party's welfare report, and said that it helped bring the country closer to welfare reform.

"ACT has campaigned on this issue since 1996. We have long seen the need for urgent welfare reform, to stop the relentless rise in beneficiary numbers.

"We are delighted that National has now reached the same conclusion on the need for urgent welfare reform, and we look forward to working with them closely on this important issue," Dr Newman said.
