Adams: Put brothels in pro-prostitution MPs' backyards

In the wake of last week's successful passage of the Prostitution Reform Bill by one vote, United Future MP Paul Adams today called for the nation's brothels to be located only in the areas of those MPs who voted for the legislation.

"With polls indicating that about 75 percent of the public were opposed to the legislation, and talk-back radio running hot against it all last week, it strikes me that those MPs who thought it was a good idea should have the brothels in their areas.

"After all, we have dry areas - whole suburbs where there is not a bar in sight, because people in those areas choose not to live near booze barns, so what would be the problem with taking the same approach to prostitution?

"That way, the MPs who voted for this bill can convince their neighbours and constituents that it really is a very good idea, and will enhance their quality of life and improve their communities.

"The only question this would raise is what to do in Ashraf Choudhary's part of Palmerston North?" Mr Adams said.
