Suicide Handbook: No! No! No!


“Exit New Zealand have distributed a suicide handbook which offers readers explicit instructions on how to kill themselves, along with strategies to avoid the death being detected as suicide. I find this very disturbing and appalling” said New Zealand First Deputy Leader, Peter Brown.

“This handbook, in the wrong hands, could be responsible for all sorts of trouble. A graphic illustration of how to commit suicide is not the road to take. I am totally opposed to this book becoming available in New Zealand.

“I am bitterly disappointed that my Death with Dignity Bill did not get to select committee, where the whole issue of voluntary euthanasia could have been widely debated. The general public would have been given the opportunity to have their say and careful consideration would have been given to both sides of the argument.

“The production of a suicide book is not the answer. It has the potential to create far more worrying problems than it would resolve. I am saddened that this is what Exit One have done,” Mr Brown concluded.
