Statement by National Party President, Judy Kirk

National Party President Judy Kirk says she is pleased the National Party Caucus has resolved leadership differences with the election today of Party Finance Spokesman Don Brash as leader to replace Bill English

Mrs Kirk said she was sure the Caucus would now be unified and would move forward to expose the multiple failings of the Labour Government.

She looks forward to working with the new leader.

Mrs Kirk praised the professionalism of former leader Mr English and the manner in which he accepted the caucus vote, while emphasising he would continue to work for a National victory at the next election.

She said a new Deputy Leader would be elected this afternoon.
