Who’s The Real Offender,
The Government Or Mcintosh?

New Zealand First law and order spokesperson Ron Mark has accused the Government of also being guilty of offending in the Lloyd McIntosh case.

This is in response to the Justice Minister’s statement that the Government will pass a new law to enable the courts to impose supervision for up to 10 years on child sex offenders released on parole.

“To say that McIntosh’s offending, while out on parole, would not have been picked up immediately had he not had 24 hours supervision is absolutely ludicrous and an outrage,” said Mr Mark.

“The fact is that McIntosh should never have been in a position to re-offend.

“It is obvious that supervision does not work and it is time for the Government to finally admit this and bring back secure institutions where people such as McIntosh can be kept safely and indefinitely.

“How does the Government propose to supervise parolee’s? And where is the money going to come from?

“Surely it is better that McIntosh is in an environment where he can be supervised by professionals who are qualified to deal with convicted paedophiles, rather than security guards,” said Mr Mark.
