Locke to address anti-nuke assembly in Japan

Keith Locke, Green Party disarmament spokesperson and secretary of the New Zealand branch of the Parliamentary Network for Nuclear Disarmament (PNND) will be speaking this weekend at the Second Nagasaki Global Citizens Assembly for the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

The assembly is being hosted by the Mayor of Nagasaki.

Mr Locke will be give a speech to the opening session of the conference on the morning of Saturday, November 22, and will be presenting a paper to the Forum for Parliamentarians for Nuclear Disarmament on the afternoon of Sunday, November 23.

He will draw on New Zealand experiences in explaining what parliamentarians have already achieved in the anti-nuclear campaign, and the challenges ahead. He will be focusing particularly on the campaign to merge the Southern Hemisphere's five existing Nuclear Weapon Free Zones.

Mr Locke's speeches will be available to the media under embargo against delivery.
