More time needed to comment on employment law

National Party Industrial Relations spokesman Roger Sowry says the public and business alike deserve more time to have their say on employment law changes.

"The Labour Government used the rush before Christmas to bury these important law changes.

"As the exchange rate continues to rise it's more urgent than ever for business to be given adequate time to comment on legislation that will impact on their bottom lines."

The National Party supports calls for the deadline on submissions to be extended past February 27.

"Margaret Wilson knew very well that with the weighty issues being thrown on the table at the end of last year that the Employment Relations Law Reform Bill wouldn't get a look in.

"It's clear Labour's totally abandoned the promises to business for clear and transparent decision-making, opting instead for a fast-track ideological agenda disguised in spin," says Mr Sowry.
