We Are Middle Earth - Not Scorched Earth!

Rt Hon Winston Peters has warned that Don Brash is creating a smoke screen of race relations while his real agenda is to breathe new life into the corpse of Rogernomics.

Mr Peters said the giveaway was last night’s speech during which Dr Brash yearned for one-party National rule, called for an end to MMP and lamented that New Zealanders would not accept a 25 percent flat tax rate.

“Don Brash was the most enthusiastic supporter that Roger Douglas ever had and he will not rest until every state-funded health, education, housing and welfare service is well and truly rogered.

“His speeches as Reserve Bank Governor rattle around on the bank’s website like financial skeletons in a Rogernomics cupboard and they should serve as a warning to all New Zealanders.

”We have had more than enough of the mad market economics and scorched earth policies of the eighties and early nineties but the B team leader is determined to revive them.”

Mr Peters also pointed out that it was ironic that Dr Brash wanted to get rid of MMP, particularly when it was the only way the banker could get into Parliament.

“There are flaws in all electoral systems. Don Brash proved that in 2002,” said Mr Peters.
