‘Get Your Fingers Out Of The Till’ Says Brown

New Zealand First says roading in this country will always be substandard while the Government steals fuel taxes.

“It is about time the Government stopped siphoning off money from petrol tax, to the detriment of roading and infrastructure,” said New Zealand First Deputy Leader, Peter Brown.

“A hefty amount of transport-related money is already used for general government spending, which is totally unacceptable. Now the Government has announced that the proportion of excise going to fund land transport will be indexed to inflation!

“It is pleasing to see Federated Farmers have suddenly woken up to what has been going on in this country .

“New Zealand First has consistently argued that all the monies taken from the petrol motorist should go into transport related activity, principally roading.

“The Government’s claim to be interested in investing in growth, is a joke,” concluded Mr Brown.
