PM announces visit by Prince of Wales

Prime Minister Helen Clark announced today that the Prince of Wales will visit New Zealand from 5 to 10 March.

Helen Clark welcomed the visit of the Prince.

"Prince Charles is a strong supporter of community involvement in projects to improve the local environment and is involved with organisations which help young and disadvantaged people.

"During his time in New Zealand the Prince will focus on conservation, environment, agriculture, and education.

"Prince Charles' itinerary will include Otago (5-7 March), Wellington (7-9 March), and Auckland (9-10 March). Further details on his programme will be available nearer the time.

"The Prince will travel to New Zealand from Australia, and then visit Fiji.

"Prince Charles last visited New Zealand in 1994," Helen Clark said.
