ACT supported 5-year sentence for child pornographers

ACT Associate Justice spokesman Deborah Coddington today said United Future's Marc Alexander should know it was she who first called for the maximum penalty for child pornographers to be increased from two to five years.
Last Tuesday Miss Coddington issued a press release announcing her intention to move an amendment to the Film, Videos and Publications Classification Amendment Bill to toughen penalties for child pornographers.
"Justice Minister Phil Goff later that morning took up that issue and introduced a Government SOP to the bill.
"ACT supported and voted in favour of that amendment yesterday.
"Mr Alexander is mistaken - it was the Greens that voted against it," Miss Coddington said.
