Interim Code of Good Faith drafted

The group working on a set of guidelines for collective bargaining to be used under the Employment Relations Act has reached agreement.

The chairman of the Interim Good Faith Committee Walter Grills says the group, comprising employer and union representatives, has agreed on an Interim Code of Good Faith as requested by the Minister of Labour.

"It is now up to the Minister to decide if the Code will be adopted used under the new legislation which takes effect on 2 October," Mr Grills said. "It is also the Minister's decision as to when the code is made publicly available and whether to comment on the code at this stage."

He said the employer and union representatives had worked well together and achieved a common understanding on a wide range of good faith issues.
