London Based Kiwi Launches Brain Drain Website

Press Release

The ‘Brain Drain’ debate has ignited again. London based New Zealander, Jeremy Punnett, has launched a website attacking the recent campaigns of John Carr and Richard Poole. “I am disgusted that people now see fit to conduct debate by buying full page newspaper advertisements, this website is a response” said Mr Punnett.

www.thevisiblehand.net takes it name from a book by the Harvard business historian, Alfred du Pont Chandler. Chandler’s 1977 book ‘The Visible Hand’ attacked the idea that the invisible hand of the market dictated actions in the economy. Chandler believed the ‘visible hand’ of human actors had much greater significance.

The website contains a copy of the original letter Mr Poole sent soliciting funds. It also contains an open letter to New Zealand, this is in response to the recently launched campaign by John Carr. The letter questions Mr Carr’s assertion of the Dairy Board as ‘discredited distribution model’ given the importance of Dairy Board in New Zealand’s total export receipts.

“I just want to make sure that money does not overcome the truth in these matters. This is about democracy first, politics and economics second” said Mr Punnett.
