CHP Calls For Changes To Primary School Sex Education

Party Leader Graham Capill has entered the debate over sex education curriculum that now has five year olds being told about sexual matters.

Mr Capill said, “It is a form of child abuse to rob pre school children and primary school children of their innocence by introducing sexual matters that they are neither ready to discuss nor need to.

“If children need to discuss such matters, it points to a systemic failure in our homes. Parents, not the Health Curriculum, ought to protect five year olds from ‘baby sitters who put their hand down their pants.’ If they are not, then it is time the community did something about parenting.

“At face value, teaching the medical names of various organs of the body seems harmless. It is not, however, when sexual organs are singled out and the rest of the human body is not even mentioned. Clearly this programme focuses on what should remain sacrosanct and special to each individual.

“It is time to dismantle the current sex education programme. The message that Family Planning has been preaching for two decades has failed. In the interest of children, it is time to introduce a new programme that:

 Promotes family values and teaches them in schools.
 Educates parents as to how to handle these matters; does not just take over on their behalf.
 Encourages marriage for life.
 Enforces the law with respect to underage sex.
 Tightens censorship, so that there is less perversion of the minds of children and adults alike.
 Promotes chastity in upper primary and secondary schools.

“Christian Heritage is convinced that such an approach would see a dramatic drop in teenage pregnancies and violent, sexual crime. It would also allow children to be children, without adults manipulating their sensitive minds from a very young age,” Mr Capill concluded.

Christian Heritage would review tax payers’ funding of Family Planning and allied organizations where they have failed to achieve positive results.
