When will Right to Life NZ Deal With Abortion?

"It was with some bewilderment that our members read the latest media release from Right to Life New Zealand, the prohibitionist arm of the anti-abortion movement that harbours fantasies about the passage of laws that would ban abortion altogether. What on earth does the decriminalisation of sex work have to do with abortion and other reproductive and sexual health issues?" Mr Craig Young, ALRANZ Research Officer, said today.

"This tends to reinforce perceptions that the New Zealand anti-abortion movement is increasingly out of touch with reality. It seems to be living in a fantasy world where the social conservatism of the seventies was never brought to an end by the Fourth Labour Government and bipartisan urban liberalism of the next National administration. It was. Why can't New Zealand anti-abortionists concentrate on debating the abortion issue, or the euthanasia issue as well in the case of Right to Life? The time for a broad spectrum morality lobby has long since ended, whatever the pretensions of Right to Life and the Christian Heritage Party may indicate." Mr Young concluded.
