Naomi Klein, author of No Logo: Taking Aim at the Brand Bullies, will be visiting Zealand in July in a visit sponsored by her publishers Harper Collins.

As part of her visit Naomi has agreed to speak at public meetings in Auckland on July 4 and Wellington on July 5. The Alliance Party has undertaken to organise these meetings and is inviting groups and individuals concerned about the process of corporate dominated globalisation to join with us in making these meetings as successful as possible. We see this as an important opportunity to deepen the public discussion on issue such as the free trade agreement with Hong Kong currently being negotiated and similar agreements proposed with the United States and other countries.

The Auckland meeting will be co-chaired by Alliance Minister Laila Harre and Maori rights activist Syd Jackson. The Wellington meeting will be co-chaired by Alliance Minister Matt Robson and union leader Maxine Gay.

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES Naomi Klein

Born in Montreal in 1970, Naomi Klein is an award-winning journalist and author of the international best-selling book, No Logo: Taking Aim at the Brand Bullies.

Translated into thirteen languages, The New York Times called No Logo "a movement bible." The Guardian Newspaper short-listed it for their First Book Award and in April 2001, No Logo won the Canadian National Business Book Award.

Naomi Klein's articles have appeared in numerous publications including The Nation, The Guardian, The New Statesman, Newsweek International, The New York Times, The Village Voice and Ms. She writes an internationally syndicated column for The Globe and Mail in Canada and The Guardian in Britain.

For the past six years, Ms. Klein has travelled throughout North America, Asia, Latin America and Europe, tracking the rise of anti-corporate activism. She is a frequent media commentator and has guest lectured at Harvard, Yale and New York University.
