Steve Maharey - Minister Of Apartheid Universities

"Steve Maharey's announcement that more money is to be given to tertiary institutions exclusively for students who declare themselves to be Maori and Pacific Islanders just demonstrates the ongoing institutionalised apartheid promoted by the Clark government" declared Libertarianz Leader and Coromandel Candidate Peter Cresswell today.

"What is nauseatingly false is Maharey's claim that the reason for this special loot is that 'tertiary learning can be very isolating for students coming from families who have not participated in it before'!! I am far from the only one to enter the tertiary system as the first in their families to do so," says Cresswell, "but there is no money for the students from European, Somalian, Vietnamese, Afghan and other non "privileged" groups - and nor should there be.

Cresswell notes that there is in fact a growing number of Maori and Pacific Island families who have several family members with tertiary experience - and observes there will still be special racially-tagged money attached to students from those families.

"Maori and Pacific Island people should feel patronised and insulted by this nannying treatment, assuming that students with their backgrounds need special support unlike all other students. Does Maharey think they are less capable citizens who need their hands held by him with the help of the money he confiscated from them in the first place?" asks Cresswell.

"A Libertarianz Government would immediately abolish all race-based laws, all race-based funding, and return tax-victims money to themselves." he confirmed.

It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
