Gregory Fortuin Withdraws Application For Reappointment
Chief Human Rights Commissioner Rosslyn Noonan said today that the Human Rights Commission respects Gregory Fortuin’s decision to withdraw his application for reappointment to the role of Race Relations Commissioner, but regrets that he has considered this to be necessary.
“In the short time that Gregory has been Race Relations Commissioner he has made a very significant contribution to the smooth merger of the two organisations. At the same time he has undertaken an extensive programme of outreach to a wide range of New Zealand communities.”
Ms
Noonan said that race relations will remain a key focus of
the new Human Rights Commission that Gregory Fortuin has
helped so much to
create.
