Alliance List: Politics Of The Future!

9th June 2002

Staunch Alliance is thrilled to announce a record-breaking number of young Alliance activists on the Alliance Party List, released today.

"This is a clear indication that the Alliance is committed to youth as the future of the party and the future of New Zealand," said Julie Fairey, National Co-Spokesperson for Staunch.

"NZ youth can be sure that a party vote for the Alliance is a vote for a positive future. Not only is the Alliance promoting policies that aim to rejuvenate NZ, we are also concentrating on involving youth in decision-making at every level, starting with our own party," said Sam Huggard, National Co-Spokesperson.

"The Alliance has put it's money where it's mouth is regarding youth, with the Party List and youth-friendly policies like free education and fair pay rates for young workers. It is now up to Staunch to make sure that young people are aware that the Alliance is the party for them, and campaign for the youth party vote," said Huggard.

Staunch activists on the Alliance Party List are:

8. Rebecca Matthews - Wellington

13. Sam Huggard - Dunedin

16. Julie Fairey - Auckland

26. Anna McMartin - Dunedin

27. Anna Sutherland - Wellington

28. Hayley Rawhiti - Auckland

29. Joseph Randall - Auckland

30. Lucia Clearwater - Christchurch 37. Brendon Lane - Auckland

43. Justin Wilson - Dunedin

44. Karl Bartleet - Auckland

45. Richard Wallis - Palmerston North

Staunch Alliance activists have also been selected as candidates in a large number of electorates around the country and further information about this will be forthcoming in the near future.
