End the Abominable War on Drugs

"It's your body" announced Libertarianz Deputy leader and Deregulation of Health spokesman Richard McGrath today announcing the Libertarianz policy on drugs.

"Nobody has the right to tell adults what they can and cannot smoke, swallow, sniff, inject or otherwise ingest into their bodies, and Libertarianz is the ONLY Party that will remove all legal restrictions on adults consuming, possessing, producing and trading in drugs" declared McGrath.

"It is the most disgusting fascist violation of individual rights that the state can imprison you for peacefully swallowing a substance by your own choosing, for many years longer than if you actually violated someone's elses property. Whose body is it?" asks McGrath.

"However, people will have to take full responsibility for their actions under Libertarianz. Criminal acts and acts of negligence (such as dangerous driving causing death) under states of intoxication will be punished harshly. Libertarianz have no tolerance for anyone initiating force while under the influence of any substances. Similarly, employers will have the right to include conditions in employment contracts that employees not be intoxicated while on the job, and all property owners will have the absolute right to prohibit anyone consuming or possessing substances on their premises."

"As far as children are concerned, it will be illegal to supply any substances to people under 16 without the express permission of their parents or guardians, and it will be illegal for anyone to supply children with substances that have a significant long term detrimental effect on their development"

“It should be emphasised that Libertarianz do not endorse the consumption of drugs, we simply acknowledge it is not the business of the state to decide what adults ingest into their own bodies.” concluded McGrath.
