Growing Support For A Life Outside Work

Growing Support For A Life Outside Work

“Today’s launch of the Finsec Get A Life! campaign reflects the growing support amongst workers for a better work/life balance,” said Ross Wilson president of the Council of Trade Unions today.

Ross Wilson said the Get a Life! campaign across unions was about a better quality of life at work and outside work.

“Workers want job satisfaction, but also a satisfying life outside of work where they can enjoy their family and friends and play an active role in the community,” he said.

Ross Wilson said the CTU Get A Life! campaign was strongly supported across the CTU’s 33 unions.

“This is not an issue for one particular sector of the workforce, he said.

“The Finsec members are saying ‘we’ve had enough of unpaid overtime - we want to get a life!

“That sentiment is echoed throughout the workforce and it’s time to make real changes to address the issues of overwork and excessive hours that have become commonplace for an increasing number of workers.”

Ross Wilson will launch the Finsec Get A Life! campaign with Human Rights commissioner, Rosslyn Noonan at Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre between 12.30pm and 1.30pm today.
