At approximately 4.15 this afternoon Hon Peter Dunne made the following retraction as a personal statement in the House:

"On 19 September 2003 I addressed this House about the World Trade Organisation meeting in Cancun.

"I made certain allegations about the reports of Professor Jane Kelsey that were cited from in this House.

"My comments about Professor Kelsey were incorrect.

"I accept that Professor Kelsey was present at the meeting's press centre each day and attended various briefings and press conferences throughout the Cancun meeting.

"I also accept that Professor Kelsey's reports were based on substantive information and that she did not make them up.

"I regret the incorrect comments".

Mr Dunne’s speech that contained these allegations was also removed from the United Future Party’s website.
