On Saturday the 1st of May over 250 workers celebrated International Workers Day in streaming rain.

"We are marching to show solidarity with workers around the world and to highlight struggles right here in New Zealand." said May Day Committee member John Anderson

Speakers talked about the situation in Iraq, Palestine, Burma, and right here in Wellington for low paid workers, seafarers, nurses and more. The march and concert included fantastic performances by Brass Razoo Solidarity Band, Choir Choir Pants on Fire, Don Franks, Dead Vicious, Mr Sterile Assembly, The Heretics and The Deadline

Unfortunately, the Deadline were cut off in their last song by an over zealous council security guard. And on a more disturbing note there have been reports that the police who turned up at the end of the exhuberent yet peaceful concert were unnecessarily armed with handguns.
