Auckland, 2nd October 2003: Hitwise, the world's leading online competitive intelligence service has reported that the number of New Zealand Internet users visiting Entertainment - Performing Arts websites has increased substantially over recent days.

A number of fast-moving websites recently appeared within the Hitwise rankings Performing Arts category. One of which, The Royal New Zealand Ballet website - www.nzballet.org.nz contains information on the organisation's tours, dancers, sponsors, performances and merchandise. This website has jumped from 48,642nd position to become the 1,849th most popular website visited by Kiwi's.

The online Performing Arts category, is lead by Australian Idol - au.australianidol.yahoo.com, the popular performance reality television show, and AK03 - www.ak03.co.nz which is a festival held in Auckland and features performers in an extensive and colourful variety of free music, cultural and festival events. These two websites alone make up almost 50% of all local and global Performing Arts websites visited by New Zealand internet users.

Other fast-moving websites within the category are The John McGlashan College Pipe Band - jmcpb.org.nz, www.nzshowbusiness.com and New Zealand Opera - www.nzopera.com.
