New Zealand Web Site wins International Award

New Zealand Web Site wins International Award

Global Museum, a 'one-man publication' published from Auckland, New Zealand has won a prestigious Museum Award for Best Museum Professional's Site against better resourced competition.

Museums and the Web 2004 recognise achievement in heritage Web site design and was a key component of a conference held recently in Arlington, VA

The selected finalists were:

Smithsonian Education http://www.smithsonianeducation.org

The CODART list of museums with Dutch and Flemish art http://www.codart.nl

Global Museum http://www.globalmuseum.org

And the Winner was: Global Museum http://www.globalmuseum.org

Judges Comments: I know many of my colleagues make extensive use of Global Museum resources, in particular its Jobs posting service is widely used by both those seeking work and agencies seeking contractors and staff. Despite its very general content focus, there are some very rich areas like the Conservation section in the Ideas area. Here can be found a diverse and very useful grouping of online documents covering a wide range of Conservation practises.

The International Judging Panel:

Best of the Web Judges: All sites are reviewed by a committee of judges.
