Direct Action Training Planned For Northland

Direct action training against genetic engineering is to take place on Saturday the 18th of September at Kotare trust, north of Warkworth.

The GE Free direct action road show, which is nearing completion of its tour of New Zealand, is holding its second full day of direct action training. The workshops will teach interested people, safe effective ways of using non-violent direct action, including blockading and barricading and how to decontaminate field trials.

“With contamination in our food supply, contamination in our crops and now a range of field trial experiments, it is essential that people are adequately trained to take action against this genetics pollution.” Say’s Lenka Rochford, spokesperson for the road show and one of the four women traveling in the brightly colored house truck. “Resistance to GE in as strong as it ever was and the people of this country are not going to stand for the governments continued failure to keep GE out of our food and environment.”

The workshop will begin at 10am and will end up with a strategy and planning session on the future of the GE Free movement. A bus has been organised to transport people from Auckland to the workshop venue.
