The Palestinian leadership condemned the bombing of an Israeli bus in Megiddo area, affirming that it had no relation to or knowledge of such an attack, which was concurrent with CIA Director George Tenet's mission to the region.

The Palestinian leadership stresses its condemnation of the bombing attack against an Israeli bus in the Megiddo area, which resulted in a number of casualties among its passengers. The leadership affirms that it has no relation to or knowledge of the attack, which was concurrent with CIA Director George Tenet's mission to the region. The Israeli accusations of the Palestine National Authority and leadership are false and misleading, particularly as foreign parties have claimed responsibility for this attack and at a time during which the leadership has, as always, reiterated its utter denunciation of all attacks that target civilians, Israelis and Palestinians. Stemming from its commitment to restoring the peace process and bringing about real security for both the Palestinian and Israeli peoples, the leadership seeks through both the bilateral and international efforts to reach a just peace, that entails ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state, with Holy Jerusalem as its capital, alongside the state of Israel, on the basis of joint security and peaceful coexistence between both peoples. Finally, the leadership welcomes the Arab, international, and American peace efforts and initiatives, which aim at realizing security and peace for both peoples and establish a just and lasting peace and security in the region.
