Implicating Empire: Globalization & Resistance in the 21st Century
Stanley Aronowitz and Heather Gautney, Editors

Implicating Empire is the first book to critically examine the various dimensions of globalization and resistance in the 21st-century and to integrate them into a wide-ranging analysis.

The contributors consider questions of resistance, theories of empire, the state, imperialism and the complications that have arisen in the politics and strategy of the burgeoning global resistance movement against supranational institutions such as the IMF, WTO and World Bank.

Including a detailed introduction to the history of globalization by the editors, Implicating Empire features contributions from leading activists and theorists, including Stanley Aronowitz, Jeremy Brecher, Alex Callinicos, Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri, Manning Marable, Peter Marcuse, Michael Ratner, Ellen Willis, and many others.

Stanley Aronowitz was the 2002 Green Party candidate for NYC Governor and is a Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the Graduate School and University Center at the City University of New York. Heather Gautney is a doctoral student of sociology at the Graduate School and University Center at the City University of New York and an activist in the globalization movement. Both live in New York City.
