Windy Point Sewage Leak Fixed |
||
13 September 2001
Hutt City Council Wastewater project manager Alan Bannatyne has advised that the leak in the main sewer pipeline discovered on 4 September has been fixed.
"Fortunately our contractors have been able to fix a very small leak without the need to discharge any sewage into the harbour, which was a real possibility when the leak was first discovered," said Alan Bannatyne.
"The sewer pipeline is now operating as normal."
Permanent repairs involved pouring a cement 'collar' around the entire circumference of the pipe. The hole will be then be filled in and the road resealed.
"Restoration of the kerb and channel, and the footpath, should be completed by the end of next week."
"We regret any inconvenience caused during this repair work."
