Wellington By-Pass Eviction!

We were kind of expecting it but not so soon. It's finally going to happen in Wellington. Just today, they have served eviction notices to Upper Cuba St, so they can try and build their bluddy by-pass.

The eviction date is JANUARY 18 2002. Houses/shops that they will try to evict will be Tonks Ave, and 270-272 Cuba St, including the anarchist bookstore, the Freedom Shop.

We will not go down without a fight, a real big fight. Hopefully thru direct action we can stop this insane road going thru, a road that is fully opposed by local residents.

We invite all people interested in some direct action to come to Wellington for Jan 18 and take on these mad planners, politicians & capitalists and their bulldozers.

Time for direct action.

Gordon Campbell: On the Sony cyber attack

Given the layers of meta-irony involved, the saga of the Sony cyber attack seemed at the outset more like a snarky European art film than a popcorn entry at the multiplex.

Yet now with (a) President Barack Obama weighing in on the side of artistic freedom and calling for the US to make a ‘proportionate response’quickly followed by (b) North Korea’s entire Internet service going down, and with both these events being followed by (c) Sony deciding to backtrack and release The Interview film that had made it a target for the dastardly North Koreans in the first place, then ay caramba…the whole world will now be watching how this affair pans out.
