Spraying On Today For Moth Pest
Tuesday 30 April
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's fifth operation of targeted aerial spraying against the painted apple moth will go ahead today, as scheduled.
The helicopter will start at first light, which is about 7.00am, and target the low lying land either side of the north-western motorway then move to the Waikumete Cemetery. If the wind doesn't get up, spraying will continue as long as possible.
The targeted aerial spraying zone of almost 600 hectares includes land alongside the north-western motorway from the Lincoln Road ramp to the Waterview/Pt Chevalier ramp, parts of the Waitakere suburbs of Te Atatu, Glendene and Kelston, the cemetery and the Avondale Peninsula. Around 3000 properties are in the zone.
