The Biggest Rates Revolt Ever - Elaine West

A meeting of some 30 community groups representing ratepayers and residents across the Auckland region has called on MPs to sent the Bill putting a cap on Local Govt rates increases to a select committee.

Spokesperson Elaine West said that we thought that giving this Bill a good hearing was an important first step towards putting a check on outrageous rates increases like the overall 34% being sought by the ARC.

Elaine West said the group is organising a mass march in protest against the ARC's huge rates increases for the 23 August.
