Speed limits on Airlie Road & Paekakariki Hill
Road
The Porirua City Council will on Wednesday night consider speed limits on two roads that are of concern to residents. Airlie Road and the Paekakariki Hill Road will be discussed at the Infrastructure Committee.
Councillor Robert Shaw, who represents the northern ward, said the people who lived on these roads were worried by frequent incidents and had approached the Council.
"These roads are unsafe at present because of a combination of factors, including the speed limits".
It is likely the Council will resolve to approach the Land Transport Safety Authority for their assistance.
Cr Shaw said he favoured a 70kmph limit for the Hill Road but was open to argument.
"It can be difficult to get any sensible speed limits because it is the level of development around a road that is the deciding factor, and not the road alignment, he added.
The meeting
begins at 5.30 pm this Wednesday in the Council Chambers,
Hagley Street.
