Rhyming Business
Upper Hutt businesses can get a poem written about their enterprise in the city's poetry competition this year. All they have to do is register , pay a small fee and the poets who enter will be allocated a business for their entry. City Promotion Manager Paul Lambert says the annual competition was started four years ago to celebrate Montana National Poetry Day.Last year the theme was Upper Hutt street names which attracted poets from all over NZ .The idea for this year came from a well received poem local poet Tony Chad wrote two years ago about South Pacific Tyres and performed at morning tea in their canteen.
Local businesses are already putting their names forward . Winning poems will be announced on Friday 16 July on National Poetry Day during a full day of poetry performance with a special finale to the day at Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre Poets can enter free from all over NZ .
