False surveyor claims cause concern
Council has been advised that someone claiming to be undertaking survey work on behalf of Council for the Eastern Corridor project has been illegally entering private properties.
Chris Freke, Manager Transportation, says the behaviour sounds suspicious given that neither Council, nor its consultants, are undertaking any kind of survey work for this project. "We would definitely notify residents directly if we planned on entering their property for this kind of work. If anyone claims to be doing work on behalf of Council they should readily be able to identify themselves. You can verify their authenticity by phoning Council's call centre on 262 5104 or if you are suspicious contact the Police immediately," said Mr Freke.
Council has informed local Police of the situation and asked them to notify all neighbourhood watch groups.
