Council obtains food convictions
Yang’s Enterprises Limited and One Red Dog Ponsonby Limited have been convicted and fined $4000 and $1200 respectively for food hygiene charges by the District Court. The charges were brought by the Auckland City Council.
Yang’s Enterprise Ltd was the owner of the Happy Takeaways in Onehunga at the time the offences took place. Environmental health officers closed the food operation in November last year for critical food safety matters. It was allowed to re-open once those matters were rectified. The premises have since closed permanently.
One Red Dog Ponsonby Ltd is the owner of the One Red Dog restaurant in Ponsonby. The prosecution was sought after environmental health officers made a regular inspection of the premises in November last year and identified a number of outstanding food hygiene matters. Since that time, the company has made a concerted effort to bring things into compliance and currently holds an “A” grade under the council’s food safety assessment system.
